J. H. Verdoodt trade card
Description
Highly pictorial 19th century lithographed trade card of J. H. Verdoodt with large image of ornately carved chair filling card. Trader details inscribed on backrest of chair in a variety of typefaces with decorative flourishes. Image of both sides of 1847 Exposition medal, with King Leopold I of Belgium 'Leopold Premier Roi des Belges' on reverse. Enamelled card or carte porcelaine. Manuscript pencil note on reverse 'MR 750' and remains of previous brown paper mount and glue. French transcription: J. H. VERDOODT, Fabricant de Chaises Fauteuils ET Canapès en tous genres. Sn 3, No 11, Rue Camusel, Près la Porte d'Anderlecht, Bruxelles. J. J. Van der Grabt, Bruxelles. English translation: J. H. VERDOODT, Manufacturer of Chairs, Armchairs and Sofas of all kinds.
