T. Tucker trade card
Description
Highly pictorial 19th century engraved trade card of T. Tucker [Thomas Tucker] with large image of shop front filling card. Four storeyed shop on street corner, with chimneys and display of lamps in ground floor windows. Royal Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom visible above door with banner underneath with text 'PATENTEE'. Tucker is mentioned in Charles Dickens' letters as being his 'lamp man'. Manuscript pencil note on reverse '152/158'. Transcription: T. TUCKER. LATE PEARCE & CO from next door. No. 269 Strand, London, opposite the Crown & Anchor Tavern. PATENTEE.
