This file contains a paper on English placenames, presented at the Medieval Settlement Seminar at the School of History, University of Leeds, 14 February 1973, which examines evidence for the origins of villages in East Anglia, and how far they retain their road and boundary systems in modern times. Particular evidence is presented from the Norfolk villages of Longham, Weasenham St. Peter and Mileham.
