Elmet: A Dialect Region in Northern England
Description
A typed paper paper on the dialect of Elmet, which discusses the boundaries of this dialect region, the characteristics of its dialect and an account of its formation. The Elmet dialect region occupies much of the West Riding of Yorkshire, and is noted by Kolb as being a dialect region of remarkable consistency. The paper includes an ms. inscription from Kolb to Stanley Ellis and is dated in ms. at the end, Basel, 1st August 1972.
