Dialect Words
Description
Address book and diary used as a notebook, recording dialect words and definitions apparently collected in areas where Mrs. Robson lived and worked, i.e. Wearhead, Middleton in Teesdale, Darlington and Sheffield, between 1900 and ca. 1963. The words are listed roughly in alphabetical order. Pages in the diary section of the notebook indicate that it was compiled in 1957. Additionally, there is an ms. list of dialect words, and a typed list of dialect words and definitions (A-Ca; probably typed-up from Mrs. Robson's ms. recordings) inserted loose in the front of the notebook. An ms. note in the front of the notebook records brief biographical information about Mrs. Robson.
