This file contains a master duplicator copy of part of 'Peter Bogatyrev (1893-1971): Selected Writings in Folkloristics (1931-1939)', edited by Stephen Miller. It forms no. 6 of the Leeds Folklore Group's 'Papers in Folklife Studies'. The papers by Petr Bogatyrev in this file were translated from German by David North. The file includes the title-page; contents page; copyright notice; Stephen Miller's Introduction (pp. i-iii); and Bogatyrev's articles 'The Christmas Tree in Eastern Slovakia: A Contribution to the Structural Investigation of Functional Change in Ethnography', 1932-33, (pp. 6-10); 'What is Folklore?', 1933, (pp. 11-14); and 'Active-Collective, Passive-Collective, Productive and Unproductive Ethnographic Material' , 1939, (pp. 41-43).
