Pictorial 19th century engraved trade card of Exton [Barnabas Exton] depicting King Alfred with cape, sceptre and shield of dragon. Trader details in a variety of typefaces with decorative flourishes. Remains of previous brown paper mount and glue present on reverse. Transcription: EXTON, ENGRAVER, Carver and Gilder, Looking Glass & Picture Frame Maker, NEWPORT. Elegant Chimney Glafses [Glasses] &c.OF THE NEWEST LONDON PATTERNS. Agent to the WEST OF ENGLAND FIRE & LIFE Insurance Company. EXETER Instituted 1807. CAPITAL £600,000 STERG [STERLING]. Property Insured of any amount at 2 s/ pr Cent [percent] Premium.
