Farmworkers and Wagon

Description

Copy of a photograph dating from the turn of the 19th/20th century, of two farmworkers with wagon drawn by two horses at a farm in Thixendale (North Yorkshire). The centre pole of the wagon can be seen clearly. One of the workers rides on the shears. Both men wear dress typical of East Riding farm labourers, with corduroy bell-bottoms (often tied at the knee) and a double-breasted waistcoat or small jacket. (Although Thixendale is now situated in North Yorkshire, it lies close to the Yorkshire Wolds in the East Riding.) Mounted on Photo File card with LAVC/PHO/P1694. With ms. note.
