Conistone Survey Contact Prints: G

Description

Contact prints of photographs taken during a Survey of Vernacular Architecture around Conistone ( Wharfedale), undertaken by students on the Museums Association Diploma Curatorial Course in Folk Life and Local History, hosted by the Institute of Dialect and Folk Life Studies (IDFLS) in July 1971. The prints include images of dwelling houses and stone barns and architectural features of theses buildings, including two 17th century stone doorways with carved lintels, barn doorways and a wooden door with long metal hinges (18); a parish notice (1); staff and students involved in the survey (2); and St. Mary's Church and churchyard, including detail of an elaborate iron gate, a gravestone, bells (1 over-exposed) and commemorative plaques inside the church (9). There are also 5 over-exposed images of what appears to be a barn interior. The contact print sheet is labelled G, with subject Conistone and date 26.7.1971 in ms.
