Description

Contact prints of photographs taken during a Survey of Vernacular Architecture around Conistone (Wharfedale), undertaken by students on the Museums Association Diploma Curatorial Course in Folk Life and Local History, hosted by the Institute of Dialect and Folk Life Studies (IDFLS) in July 1971. The prints include images of a 17th century doorway with carved stone lintel (2); the Church of St. Mary (to which the doorway in the previous prints possibly belongs) (1); general views of dwelling houses and stone barns, including a stone cottage with bee boles in the garden, a cottage with an exterior staircase leading to the door, and a barn with a dovecote on its gable end (25); the Methodist chapel (2); and a sheep stool (1). The contact print sheet is labelled B, with subject Conistone and date 26.7.1971 in ms.
