This file contains a paper napkin printed with pictures and numbers with words in Welsh and English (undated); Harold Orton's review of Eugen Dieth's 'A Grammar of the Buchan Dialect (Aberdeenshire), Descriptive and Historical', Volume 1: Phonology - Accidence (Cambridge: Heffer and Sons, 1932), extracted from the 'Modern Language Review', volume 27 (1933), pp. 498-500; the Ulster Folk Museum's typed 'Indexes to Dialect Questionnaires' (Ulster Folk Museum, 1972), [1], 6, [1], 8 pp., consisting of a composite index to the lexical questionnaires of the Linguistic Survey of Scotland and the Linguistic Survey of Ireland, and a composite index to phonological questionnaires by J. C. Catford and R. J. Gregg; and a photocopy of H. H. Speitel's article, 'The Word-Geography of the Borders' (i.e. the Scottish Borders), from the 'Scottish Literary Journal', supplement number 6 (Spring 1978), pp. 17-38, which considers data collected by the Linguistic Survey of Scotland in Berwickshire, Roxburghshire, Selkirkshire, Peeblesshire, Dumfriesshire and Kirkudbrightshire, and by the Survey of English Dialects (SED) in Cumberland and Northumberland. File arranged chronologically, with undated items first.
