John Tye, Junior trade card
Description
Pictorial 19th century engraved trade card of John Tye, Junior, with large image of ornate stone archway filling card. Archway curtain is drawn back to reveal landscape scene visible through arch. Putti operating printing press on plinth to left of archway, with open book at his feet. Group of objects on plinth to right include cup, heraldic shield, palette and engravers tools. Trader details in a variety of typefaces with decorative flourishes. Transcription: JNO. [JOHN] TYE JUNR [JUNIOR]. Engraver, COPPER PLATE PRINTER, &c. No. 188 Livery Street, nr [near] Gt [Great] Charles Street. BIRMINGHAM. Pattern Books ENGRAVED & PRINTED.
