Lead Mining Tools: Hand Buckers
Description
Hand buckers, found at the CB Lead Mines, Fell End Moor ( Arkengarthdale) by a local keeper in 1966. Buckers were often used by women and children at the dressing floor in conjunction with a large slab of iron or flat stone for crushing the lead ore prior to smelting. Mounted on Photo File card. With ms. notes and catalogue details in the hand of Werner Kissling. Informant: Lawrence Barker of Healaugh ( Swaledale). Originally held in Photo File: Mining.
