Regional Social Histories

Description

This subseries contains items relating largely to the social history of specific areas, including details of folk custom. Of the subseries' eight component parts, six are photocopies of original manuscripts, some of which are interspersed with press cuttings and other printed items. These relate to the social history and folklore of North Yorkshire, Cornwall, the area around Wakefield (West Yorkshire), Heptonstall (West Yorkshire), Leeds (with particular reference to the Hunslet district) and the Stockport area. Items relating to Heptonstall and Leeds are in the form of memoirs. The other components contain printed pamphlets on the folklore of the West Country, and general correspondence.
