Clog Factory: Finishing Room

Description

Clogger nailing uppers and wooden soles together, at F. Walkley's clog factory, Huddersfield. A narrow leather strip is placed over the upper and sole before they are nailed together. A stack of wooden soles is visible in the foreground on the clogger's bench. The clogger converses with a participant on the field trip to the factory (possibly a member of staff), who appears to be using sound recording equipment. Unmounted. This photograph was taken during a field visit as part of the Museums Association Diploma Curatorial Course in Folk Life and Local History.
