Clog Factory: Finishing Room

Description

Clogger nailing uppers and wooden soles together, at F. Walkley's clog factory, Huddersfield. A narrow leather strip is placed over the upper and sole before they are nailed together. Clogger's tools and box of equipment visible on the bench in the foreground. The tools include a hammer and pliers. The box contains nails (visible) and heel strengtheners (not visible). Unmounted. This photograph was taken during a field visit as part of the Museums Association Diploma Curatorial Course in Folk Life and Local History.
