Waterston Report (Fair Isle)
Description
Typed copy of a confidential report prepared by the National Trust for Scotland on the status of the community of Fair Isle (7 December 1955) with a covering letter from the Trust (3 January 1956). The report was compiled by Kenneth Williamson of the Fair Isle Bird Observatory Trust, and George Waterston of the National Trust for Scotland, and addresses concerns raised about the island's dwindling population and community life. The file also includes a typed memo from Donata Martin to Susan Drury (1979) stressing the confidential nature of the report, and the need for Sanderson's permission to view the document. The document was originally housed in an envelope marked Private and Strictly Confidential, which has been retained. File arranged as found.
