This file contains correspondence between Stewart Sanderson and colleagues at academic and related institutions. It includes a typed questionnaire on folklife research in Europe from the Commission Internationale des Arts et Traditions (UNESCO) and Sanderson's typed response (1964); a copy of the 'British News Bulletin' ( British Information Service in Nigeria) for 3 April 1965, including an article on Sanderson's involvement in plans for the study and collection of Nigerian folklore; a duplicated typescript Report on Sabbatical Leave 1965-66 (29 pp.) by Lew Girdler of San Jose State University, California, including sections on the School of Scottish Studies, Sanderson and the Institute of Dialect and Folk Life Studies (IDFLS); correspondence with the British Association for the Advancement of Science, Section H (Anthropology) regarding Sanderson's committee membership for 1966-67 and the Leeds Meeting in September 1967, including Sanderson's Traditional Farm Buildings Excursion notes (October 1966-October 1967); correspondence with Asa Briggs regarding research by a Mrs. Strickland (January-February 1967); correspondence with Sir Mortimer Wheeler of the British Academy regarding the Survey of English Dialects (SED) field recordings (April-July 1967); correspondence with A. Hassell Smith of the Centre for East Anglian Studies, University of East Anglia regarding advice on developing a scheme of study of East Anglian society (November-December 1967); correspondence with Lady McTaggart concerning Sir Compton Mackenzie’s Nobel Prize (January 1968); correspondence with Wilfred Taylor of The Scotsman regarding Taylor's tribute to Douglas Grant, including a photocopy of the article (February 1969); a typed syllabus for the Museums Association Diploma Curatorial Course in Folk Life and Local History at the IDFLS, July 1971 (Sanderson was co-director); correspondence from Hermann Böhlaus publishers concerning the issuing and delivery of copies of their 'Österreichischer kskundeatlas (January 1972-March 1979); correspondence with Johannes Söderlind of the Engelska institutionen, Uppsala University regarding Sanderson's guest lecturing trip, (January-October 1980); and correspondence with H. P. Duerr regarding the Cottingley Fairies and a forthcoming publication by Duerr (May 1983). The arrangement of the file is chronological and by correspondent.
