Description
This file consists of original and copy correspondence, and related papers, concerning a postgraduate course in Swedish folk museums devised by Stewart Sanderson and Ingemar Liman. It includes ms. and typed notes on the course, a typed preliminary programme and photocopied list of delegates; the second report of the Frederick Soddy Trust (October 1963); correspondence with Gunnar Ahlströhm of the Svenska Institutet regarding the organisation of the course (March 1968-September 1969); correspondence with Anne Buck, Chair of the Museums Association Education Committee, on the organisation of the course (March 1968-June 1969); correspondence with Arthur King and David Thomas of the British Council regarding Sanderson's 1968 Swedish lecture tour, and the organisation of the course and its funding (November 1967-October 1969); correspondence with Ingemar Liman (November 1967-January 1969); correspondence with Nils-Gustav Hildemann of the Swedish Institute, London, regarding the organisation of the course (February 1968-May 1969); correspondence with David N. Lowe of the Carnegie United Kingdom Trust concerning the funding of delegates wishing to take the course (May 1968-October 1969); correspondence between Sanderson and Swedish contacts concerning his Swedish lecture tour and the Swedish Folk Museums course (August 1968-October 1969); correspondence between Sanderson and British and Dutch contacts concerning his Swedish lecture tour and the Swedish Folk Museums course; and a cutting from a Swedish newspaper including an article on November traditions in Odinslund, Uppsala (7 November 1968). The file also includes an ms. note by Sanderson on the course added to the file in October 1983. The file is arranged with general papers on the course filed first, followed by correspondence.
