Buttermaking: Weighed Butter
Description
Butter, weighed by Mrs. M. E. Scott, on a wooden board in her home, West Stonesdale ( Swaledale). Large handfuls of butter are taken out of the wooden butter bowl, where it has been mixed and salted, and are shaped slightly before weighing on a set of scales, and being placed on a wooden board. Mrs. Scott's hands are kept cool and wet throughout this process in order that the butter does not stick to them. Mounted on Photo File card. With typed note. Card 10 in a series of 13.
