Cheesemaking: Ladling off Whey
Description
Mrs. M. E. Scott ladling off whey from the curd and making sure no slip-curds (slips) are left, in her home, West Stonesdale ( Swaledale). A loose-woven cheesecloth covers the curd whilst the whey is squeezed out, ladled off the top with a wooden bowl, and poured into a bucket. The slip curds are a soft slippery mass which may be present due to shortened curdling time. Mounted on Photo File card with LAVC/PHO/P1523. With typed note. Card 12 in a series of 27.
