Archivists' Papers
Description
Throughout most of its lifetime, the Institute of Dialect and Folk Life Studies (IDFLS) employed an archivist to manage its archive and library of dialect and folklife collections, created through the teaching and research activities of the Institute's staff and students. This subfonds contains correspondence and administrative papers relating to successive archivists' work on processing, arranging and making available for use such collections. It includes evidence of their work adopting and adapting a Swedish classification scheme for use in the intellectual and physical arrangement of folklife items, as well as files of photographs copied for use in exhibitions designed to promote the work of the Institute, its collections and the academic discipline of Folklife Studies.
