Needle Supports (Handknitting)
Description
Five carved wooden needle supports from villages and towns on the River Lune (Cumbria), in the Whitehead Collection at the Castle Museum, York. Includes examples of bladed supports from Newbiggin-on-Lune, Cautley, Tebay and Gaisgill. One of the examples from Cautley is carved with a zigzag pattern, and initials F.W. Display labelled 1. Unmounted.
