This file contains original and copy correspondence, and other papers relating to the awarding of a grant from the Leverhulme Trust in support of the production of 'The Linguistic Atlas of England' (LAE). This includes a copy of the funding application and reports on the progress of the LAE (January 1969-January 1978); correspondence relating to the successful obtaining of a Leverhulme grant, including a letter from the Vice Chancellor, Edward Boyle (October-November 1971); internal correspondence with the University of Leeds Bursar regarding the payment of accounts and related papers (April 1972-October 1975); statements of expenditure for 1971-1976; and miscellaneous photocopied draft LAE maps for the notions Farmer (SED question VIII.4.7), Slide (on ice) (SED question VIII.7.1) and Vest (SED question VI.14.9). The arrangement of the file is chronological and by subject matter.
