LAE Cartographers
Description
This file was originally held as three separate physical files within a single filing-cabinet file. The file contains original and copy typed and ms. correspondence, and related papers, concerning the employment of cartographers for 'The Linguistic Atlas of England' (LAE). This includes correspondence, further particulars, and post-LAE references for Huw W. Dobson (August 1973-August 1976) (original file labelled H. Dobson); correspondence with Janet Hankinson, including correspondence following her departure from the LAE team (August 1974-May 1976) (original file labelled J. Hankinson); and correspondence with Janet Lakin, including correspondence following her departure from the LAE team (March 1975-July 1976) (original file labelled J. Lakin). Each set of correspondence includes a copy of the classified advertisement advertising the post of Cartographic Draughtsman for the LAE. Although now housed in 1 physical file, the arrangement of the file retains the order of the three original files.
