Dressing-Up the Bride

Description

Outfit worn by Kathleen Evans, a tea factory worker from Crewe (Cheshire), when her workmates dressed her up on her last day of work before her wedding. In the photograph, the outfit is worn by the bride's mother, as the bride herself was away on her honeymoon. The outfit consists of a coat, onto which coloured paper streamers, tinsel, balloons, a plastic bowl and other items have been attached; and a hat covered in coloured paper (flowers?). Mounted on Photo File card. With ms. note. Originally held in Photo File: Traditional Customs, Annual Fairs, Bonfires.
