This subseries contains items relating to verse and folk poetry. The subject matter includes British monologues; long narrative verse including 'Beowulf' and other Old English poetry; copies of pages of verse from a British war diary; poems written on specific occasions, including poems written following the Lofthouse Pit Disaster (1973); and collections of humorous and nonsense verse compiled by Rosemary Garland.
