Description

This file contains a typed copy of Edward K. Miller's paper, 'Local Chauvinism and Life-Experience Transfiguration in British Monologues', with photocopied notes and appendices, 19, [7] leaves. The appendices include the verses, 'Let My People Go' , 'A Halloween Story', 'The Battle of Towton Moor' and the monologues 'Joshua and the Wellies', 'The Story of Joseph' and 'Haaks's Men at the Battle of Waterloo'. The paper is accompanied by an ms. note by Miller, and was written for the Center for Intercultural Studies in Folklore and Oral History, University of Texas at Austin, autumn term 1974. The file also contains a typed copy of the verse, 'Sid Metcalfe Had a Cow', from Percy French's 'Phil the Fluters Ball', submitted to the Institute of Dialect and Folk Life Studies by J. Metcalfe (undated).
