Leg Board (Knitting)
Description
Wooden leg board used at Yore Mills, Aysgarth ( Wensleydale), for stretching out long stockings handknitted for the market. Stockings made of oily natural wool were shrunk, then washed and hung up to be tried on the flat wooden leg board before being pressed and bundled for sale. Mounted on Photo File card. With typed note. Originally held in Photo File: Knitting.
