The Annunciation to the Virgin (fol. 45r)
Description
The Virgin Mary kneels by a small altar on which a book lies open. The angel Gabriel, depicted with green wings, announces that she will give birth to Christ. The Dove is depicted between them. The full decorated border includes birds, and a grotesque with a dark-skinned female upper body and the lower body of an animal. Context: Hours of the Virgin: Annunciation: Domine labia mea aperies
