Fieldwork Progress Maps
Description
This file contains a number of base maps, completed in ms. by Harold Orton, showing the progress of the Survey of English Dialects (SED) fieldwork at various stages between 1955 and 1960; and the areas where particular fieldworkers were recording. It also includes an ms. note in Harold Orton's hand on localities for recording in September 1956; and an ms. record of Fieldworkers' Stints signed by Stanley Ellis, 21 March 1961. The arrangement of the maps is largely chronological.
