Playground Jingles
Description
This file contains photocopies of a series of four articles from the 'Bradford Telegraph and Argus', written by A. D. Hawkes in May 1973. The articles focus on the playground jingles, i.e. chants and rhymes, used by children at play. They include information and actual rhymes collected from children at Allerton Middle School ( Bradford) and Southmere Primary School (Great Horton, Bradford), appeals for information on playground rhymes from readers, and a selection of rhymes submitted by readers. The photocopies include mounted cuttings of photographs used in the original articles. File contents arranged chronologically.
