Description
The double-compartment miniature has a man warming his feet at a fire, and the zodiacal sign of Pisces (the fish). The scenes in the historiated border are: St. Brigid of Ireland holding a lantern; possibly (?) St. Valentine of Rome; and the Virgin Mary and Christ-Child with a handmaiden carrying a tall candle and three turtle doves in a basket, the latter offered as sacrifice for the Purification of the Virgin (the corresponding feast day).
