Description

The correspondence in this sub-subseries relates to various aspects of the Survey of English Dialects (SED) and its publication programme. It includes SED reports and draft text; original and copy correspondence between Sanderson, Harold Orton and others regarding SED finance and publication, and the staffing of the SED; correspondence with E. J. Arnold and Son Limited regarding the publication of the SED Basic Material and the LAE (including some draft texts); proposals for future publications, and Gerald Keil's computerisation project; correspondence with Margaret Wainwright (of E. J. Arnold's) and various academic contacts regarding the SED audio-recordings and proposals for a dialect recording anthology; and original, draft and copy correspondence regarding Eduard Kolb's proposed use of SED items in a dialect atlas. There is also an empty Word Geography of England file.
