Description
Print of a scene of interior with four figures, some working with tools and others smoking long pipes. From a painting titled, “Forgeron tsigane, Baghtcheh-Sara'i (Crimee.) 17 Aout [August] 1837.” Note in pencils reads: "Turque [Turkish] Gypsies." Printed by Auguste Bry for Gihaut freres [Paris]: "Chez Gihaut Freres, editeurs, boulvard des italiens. 5. Imprime par Auguste Bry, 8 Rue Favart." The plate is numbered 39. Original artist unknown. Pencil note reads, "Lotz.(Kaffer?) 1840”, Original published catalogue suggests, "Chronologically the “Lotz” could only be Eduard Hermann Lotz." 20 x 25 cm., to border 22x27 cm.
