Ropemaking Device
Description
Cast-iron ropemaking device, Low Bells Shielon the River Tweed, near West Ord (Northumberland). The device has one hook and is mounted on wheels. A projecting footboard at the rear is missing. It was used for making cable-laid rope from old (salmon) fishing nets. Mounted on Photo File card with LAVC/PHO/P1228. With typed note. Originally held in Photo File: Ropemaking.
