Oatcake Making: Cooling Rack
Description
Mr. Leslie Feather stacking oatcakes onto a cooling rack, or breadflake, in his shop, Haworth (West Yorkshire). The cooling rack consists of a large wooden frame (3 feet by 4 feet) with wire netting at the bottom. It rests on a square wooden box, and is attached to strings which enable the frame to be drawn flat to the wall when it is not in use. Cooked oatcakes are stacked on top of each other in dozens on the cooling rack. Mounted on Photo File card. With ms. note. Originally held in Photo File: Oatcake Making.
