Description
Response book recording the answers given by informants during the Survey of English Dialect. It includes 9 sections that cover a range of topics relating to work, domestic and social life. Answers are recorded in the International Phonetic Alphabet. Interviews have been carried out by fieldworker Peter Wright. There are four informants for this response book - Crowther Garside, Benjamin Smith, James Gledhill and Alfred Lockwood. Their responses can be found in the following books: Crowther Garside - I, II, III, IV Benjamin Smith - V, VI James Gledhill - VII, IX Alfred Lockwood - VIII The index for the response book can be found with book I. Location, biographical or phonetic notes will be shown either in the final notes section or within the book they appear in.
