This file contains a photocopy of Irene Teoh Brosnahan's paper, 'The Haptics of the English Handshake', from 'IRAL: International Review of Applied Linguistics in Language Teaching', volume XVII, number 1 (1979), pp. 77-82; an ms. index card detailing a saying used to describe Morley, collected by Tony Green from informant Roger Barker (16 September 1970); ms. notes by Tony Green on sayings used to describe Tickhill and Wadworth (South Yorkshire), and West Bridgford (Nottinghamshire), collected from R. W. Booth and Catherine Wellsted respectively (undated); an ms. letter from W. S. Newton to Stewart Sanderson on Lancashire expressions heard during World War One, and a copy of Tony Green's typed response (October 1972); F. Austin Hyde's article on Yorkshire expressions, extracted from the 'Ridings' magazine (Autumn 1964), p. 36, and mounted; and a mounted newspaper cutting from 'The Guardian' on an exhibition of village lore at Kippax (West Yorkshire), and the history of nicknames given to Kippax families (22 January 1971). File contents retained in original classification order, and chronologically within this.
