Description
This file contains an ms. letter from Michael Cram to Angus McIntosh (Dept. of English Language, University of Edinburgh) regarding the origins of a proverb (26 November 1972), with an a accompanying ms. note from Angus McIntosh (possibly to Stewart Sanderson) on forwarding the letter; a photocopy of Alan Dundes' paper, 'On the Structure of the Proverb', from 'Proverbium', number 25 (1975), pp. 961-973; a photocopy of Robert Reisner's article, 'Spotty History of Graffiti', from the 'Weekend Telegraph Magazine' (June 1972), pp. 31-[34]; and mounted magazine and newspaper cuttings from 'Country Life' and 'The Guardian', on the origins of several sayings, and a variorum alphabet. File contents retained in original classification order, and chronologically within this.
