Miniature portrait of Cecilia Serle (née Novello)
Description
Miniature glazed watercolour portrait of Cecilia Serle (née Novello) by her brother Edward Petre Novello, in an oval metal mount with a paper label on the reverse which records the artist and sitter and that the portrait was painted shortly before the sitter's marriage. She married Thomas James Serle on 3 September 1836 and Edward died on 3 January 1836, so it is likely that is was painted around 1835.
