Portrait of Clara Anastasia Novello
Description
An undated glazed and framed pencil portrait of Clara Anastasia Novello by her brother Edward Petre Novello. It is inscribed 'Clara Novello' on the mount at the bottom, possibly in her own hand. It is in an ebonised frame with a gilt interior border. On the reverse is a sticker with the following typewritten inscription: 'Presented at his request to the Brotherton Library, Leeds by the Late Philip Clement Gibbons through his executor Jack Reading February 1997'. A press cutting on a vocal performance by Clara is adhered to the reverse on the bottom right.
