“BBC Widdrup Talk”. Correspondence from E.T. Widdrup, General Programme Assistant at the BBC, regarding a draft script by Harold Orton. Widdrup makes suggestions regarding the style, content and title. Includes Orton’s typed draft (15 pp.) of the talk, with copious ms. additions and emendations. The talk was broadcast as “A New English Dialect Survey”, 31 October 1962, on “Points North”. It was later also broadcast on the BBC European Service’s “Outlook” programme. 11 file. 1962.
