Description
This file contains items on natural formations and the landscape, including Pauline Flick's article on the Rollright Stones and their conservation, extracted from 'Country Life' (30 August 1973), pp. 560-561; and mounted magazine and newspaper cuttings (some photocopied) from 'John Peel Jottings', 'Country Life' and the 'Yorkshire Post', on Lakeland cairns, the Kilburn White Horse, Elden Hole in the Peak District, the Brutus Stone at Totnes (Devon), cup and ring engravings, the Drake Stone at Harbottle (Northumberland), Shepherd's Crowns (fossilised sea urchins), the Devil's Arrows stones near Boroughbridge, the Water Stone at Wrington (Somerset), beliefs connected with the Woe Waters (i.e. the Gypsy Race, Yorkshire Wolds), and ancient wells at Trelleck and St. David's (Wales). The files are retained in original classification order, and chronologically within this.
