This file contains items relating to weatherlore, including an ms. paper compiled by Institute of Dialect and Folk Life Studies (IDFLS) archivist Margaret Jackson, containing weatherlore, with bibliographical references (all reference items in the IDFLS archive), [6] pp.; a mounted photocopy of a verse on seasons, from Thomas Winder's 'T' Heft an' Blades o' Shevvield: Dialect Stories and Antiquarian Papers' (Sheffield: Sheffield Independent Press, 1907); Helena H. Clark's paper, 'Northumbrian Lore: Extracts from a Countryman's Notebook', on folklore recorded in the notebooks of Robert Craigs of Catcleugh ( Northumberland), including weatherlore, offprinted from the 'Journal of the King's College Agricultural Society', volume 15 (1961), pp. 3-7; and mounted magazine and newspaper cuttings from 'Country Life'and 'The Guardian', on the custom of sowing seeds by moonlight, British weather, the use of leeches in weather forecasting and natural weather omens. The files are retained in original classification order, and chronologically within this.
