Donkey as Pack Animal
Description
Donkey used for carrying milk to the village from the hillside, outside a stone barn at West End Farm, Castle Bolton ( Wensleydale). Mr. Bostock, the donkey's owner, attaches milk cans to a home-made pack saddle worn by the donkey. Donkeys were once also used in this area as pack animals for the lead mines.
