Donkey as Pack Animal
Description
Donkey used for carrying milk to the village from the hillside, outside a stone barn at West End Farm, Castle Bolton ( Wensleydale). The donkey wears a home-made pack saddle, onto which milk cans have been attached. Donkeys were once also used in this area as pack animals for the lead mines.
