Beastings Research

Description

Items relating to Wille Brunk's research into beastings, i.e. the first milk drawn from a cow after calving (or bovine colostrum), and its uses. Brunk conducted much of this research through the use of a postal questionnaire. This file contains an ms. notebook of draft letters to William Cowley, Peter Lawson and others requesting information; and a draft circular letter to be sent out with the Beastings Questionnaire. The notebook also contains ms. notes in Swedish and in English on topics unrelated to Brunk's beastings research. These include a draft questionnaire on the Cleveland Bay horse (see LAVC/STA/2/2/1); a draft lecture or talk on Sweden and Swedish history; and notes [?for a talk] referring to excavations at Russekeila, Norway (see LAVC/STA/2/2/3).
