Description
Miniature portrait of Mary Sabilla Novello in a glazed maroon velvet frame. An inscription on the reverse reads: '(Painted by Holmes) Miniature pf Mrs Vincent Novello, when a bride, & given to me by Aunt Sabilla - Porzia Gigliucci 1893'. The sitter wears a white dress and brooch and is sat in front of books including 'Shakespear's Works'. It is likely to be painted with tempera on board.
