[Side 1] John Johnson talks about father farming at Black Heddon before being sacked for stopping squire crossing his land and moving to Shotley Bridge, father died when John was seven and John returned to Stamfordham; compares cattle farming now and in past, recalls haggling over prices, fighting with Irish cattle drovers, comments nowadays price regulated at auction marts, describes shooting snape in winter and explains love of fishing.
